About This Resource
Makor Care & Services Network is a Brooklyn-based non-profit organization serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families across the lifespan. Founded in 1978, Makor is committed to promoting respect, inclusion, and dignity within the community.
Makor operates over 32 residential programs tailored to varying needs, from twelve-bed homes for children with profound disabilities and medical challenges to smaller apartments for higher-functioning adults, elderly individuals, and married couples. These provide 24/7 care and support.
Beyond residential services, Makor offers Early Intervention, Day Habilitation, Residential Habilitation, Respite Care, Medicaid Service Coordination, HCBS Waiver Programs, and Supported Employment. Their person-centered approach empowers participants to develop independence, vocational skills, and social connections.
The Makor College Experience, in partnership with Yeshiva University, provides young adults with intellectual disabilities academic enrichment, vocational training, and campus involvement in a non-degree program.
Combining professional expertise with compassionate care, Makor continues its mission to enhance quality of life and community integration for those they serve.
